´лѨ˵طԴ´ͧѡ֡ҾҺ㹡ý֡Ժѵԧҹͼ Stress and Factors Inducing Stress in Nursing Students During Nurses Practice on Wards

ԨԨ Nursing Educationѡɳç The purpose of this descriptive research was to study stress and factors inducing stress in the fourth year nursing students during nursing practice on wards. Purposive sampling was adopted to recruit 127 fourth year nursing students in the Faculty of Nursing Chiang Mai University, who have training in clinical experience, in secondary semester 2003. The tools used for data collection are questionnaires consisted of demographic data and the Pagana Clinical Stress Questionnaire (1988) translated and modified by Nipa Rujanantakul (1998), which consisted of three: 1) the one-open-ended question regarding describe the situation in clinical practice effecting emotions and factors inducing stress 2) a question related to the assessment of stress level among the nursing students, and 3) the 20 questions, that categorized emotions of clinical experience in to 4 categories, threat, challenge, harm/loss, and benefit. The reliability of each category was confirmed by the Cronbach Alpha coefficient as .81, .60, .76, and .84, respectively. The result of this study revealed that most of the fourth year nursing students perceived the practice of clinical nursing at a moderate level. Most of them appraised the practice situation as challenge, threat, and benefit respectively. Practicing in Surgical ICU ward were perceived as the most challenge. Considering factors inducing stress during nursing practice, it is found that stress was related to supervisors characteristics, the type of practice and patient care, personals and staffs characteristics. Practicing place, and the students personality. The study results can be use as basic information for developing stress management program for the fourth year nursing students. In addition, the results can be further applied to the preparation enhancing the readiness of nursing practice among nursing students.
