Background: Patients with cleft lip and cleft palate [CLCP] have physical problems in chewing and
swallowing food as well as problems related to the intellectual level, living with others in society, and
low self-esteem. Psychological effects and the social aspect of the patients including the treatment
process surgery and treatment consequently the patient had to be hospitalized multiple times.
Objective: This research aims to develop a chatbot application and website to enhance self-esteem
in adolescents with CLCP.
Methods: The theories enhance the self-esteem interventions used to develop programs and apply
lesson content and activities suitable for adolescents with CLCP by creating lessons, activities, diary

writing, collecting points for activities in the program, and designing an application line chatbot and
website called digital health technology.
Results: The result of the tools development was evaluated by the content validity by three experts,
consisting of three pediatric nursing lecturers, a pediatric professional nurse, and a child psychologist.
The index of item objective congruence was valued at 0.91 and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha
coefficient = 0.9)
Conclusion: A digital health platform via a chatbot application and website was developed for
adequate quality and feasibility in applying to conduct the quasi-experimental research. Future
research should be carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of enhancing self-esteem in adolescents
with CLCP.
