Background: With an increasingly complex and diverse healthcare environment, nurses not only
require solid professional knowledge but also demand forward-thinking and innovative thinking to
provide patient-centered care. Design thinking, as an interdisciplinary methodology, has gradually
received widespread attention in the field of nursing in recent years.

Objective: To find the hotspots of research on design thinking in nursing and help promote nursing
           innovation and nursing practice.

Methods: Through searching the Web of Science Core Collection database, output relevant
information, and using bibliometric software VOSviewer and Citespace to show publication countries,
authors, keywords, institutions, and journals from inception to March 20, 2024. Search items included
           nurse, care, and ‘design thinking’.

Results: 371 records were found, and 304 English articles were obtained by limiting the literature types
to articles and reviews. 1 duplicate and 39 documents with low relevance to the research topic were
deleted under the screening of title and abstract by two independent authors. Lastly, 264 literatures
were selected for bibliometrics, including 15 reviews and 249 articles, which were written by 1477
authors from 634 organizations in 47 countries, published in 190 journals, and cited 10093 references
from 5153 journals. The United States was the most productive country. Stanford University was the
   Oral Presentation Abstracts
most productive institution with the most citations. The top 10 frequent keywords were design thinking,
care, healthcare, innovation, design, education, health, quality, framework, and human-centered
           design.

Conclusion: This article reveals the overall scenery of design thinking in nursing. Nursing needs
innovation, design thinking as a powerful innovation tool helps promote better nursing education and
practice. Further studies should focus on improving the relevant research quality and implementing
design thinking in more nursing activities. Closer interaction and cooperation between nursing
sciences and other areas is needed to implement design thinking fully.
