Background: Under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, carrying out Sino-foreign joint
education is an important model for integrating high-quality educational resources at home and
abroad. The C University to which the author’s unit belongs and Q University of country T along the
“Belt and Road” reached a joint training agreement in 2016.The author’s unit undertook and completed
the clinical internship teaching task of the fourth academic year for undergraduate nursing students
jointly trained by C University and T.Q University, which has significant practical significance for the
author’s unit to explore the internationalized training model for nursing professionals.
Objective: Drew experience for future clinical teaching among nursing students under the
Oral Presentation Abstracts
background of joint education through summarizing and analyzing the clinical teaching among
undergraduate nursing students from the joint international educational program.
Methods: Review the teaching requirements and actual implementation among 31 undergraduate
nursing students from the joint international educational program and investigate their current
situation, then summarize the main points and achievements of clinical practice teaching among
undergraduate nursing students from the joint international educational program.
Results: Nursing students under the joint international educational program need to complete the
graduation requirements of two institutions, and their internship teaching should be integrated
with the requirements of these two institutions. After graduation, the majority of nursing students
(20, 64.51%) work at the clinical front line, while a small number of nursing students pursued further
studies for a graduate degree (4, 12.90%), or worked in other medical-related industries (5, 16.13%).
One nursing student (3.23%) was engaged in a non-medical-related industry, and another nursing
student (3.23%) was lost to follow-up.
Conclusion: Under the joint international educational program, nursing students have special status,
heavy teaching tasks and big differences in professional identity, so practice colleges should carry out
personalized clinical teaching according to the characteristics of colleges and students.
Keywords: joint education, nursing students, clinical internship teaching
