• Money
The currency used in Thailand is the Thai Baht (THB). The currency exchange as of August 2024
is about US$1 = 35.50THB. Notes come in 20THB (green), 50THB (blue), 100THB (red), 500THB
(purple) and 1000THB (brown). Coins are 1THB (small silver coin), 2THB (small silver/bronze-
color coin), 5THB (larger silver coin), and 10THB (large bronze-color coin ringed with silver). The
very small copper coins are not really used in circulation except for being given out as change
from chain stores like 7-11.
Please note that when buying small items, some vendors might not accept big notes such as
500THB or 1,000THB. It is best to carry some small notes. The easiest way to get change for a
large note is to buy something at a 7-11 convenience store.
