Background: This paper examines the factors influencing health-related quality of life among
patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), a standard surgery that occurs
when conservative measures fail. Complications and persistent symptoms can impact patients’
           health-related quality of life (HRQoL).

Objective: Based on Ferran’s revision and expansion of Wilson and Cleary’s model, a conceptual
framework for the present study can be developed, and the researcher hypothesized that these
factors could predict HRQoL among patients undergoing ACDF surgery, as this model had
demonstrated its potential in exploring the relationship among factors predicting HRQoL among
                                                                                                                      Oral Presentation Abstracts
           patients undergoing ACDF surgery.

Methods: This review included articles based on the Model of Ferrans Revised Wilson and Cleary’s
HRQoL, which defined as the way in which health affects ACDF patients’ function ability and how they
perceive their life in terms of physical, mental, and social well-being. The literature was searched from
Cumulative Index to Nursing and Health Literature (CINAHL), Google Scholar, ProQuest, PubMed, and
           ScienceDirect databases.

Results: Factors influencing Health-Related Quality of Life among patients undergoing ACDF surgery:
           1) the characteristics of individual and environmental which included age, smoking status, gender,
           and social support; 2) the symptoms, which included neck/arm pain, dysphagia, and depression;
and 3) the functional status which included remaining disability, were entered into the model
consequently in a series of steps.

Conclusion: This review offers insights into the influential factors influencing health-related quality
of life among patients undergoing ACDF surgery that can be manipulated in nursing interventions to
           improve HRQoL in this population.
