Background: Abdominal surgery is a major. It cause moderate to severe pain.

Objective: to study predicting factors of pain and pain management behaviors of working-age
           patients undergoing major abdominal surgery.

Methods: This study is descriptive research. The sample consisted of 100 patients who underwent major
abdominal surgery. Calculate the sample using a ready-made program with an Effect size = .25, Power of
test = .80, set a confidence level of 95%. Select a specific sample. Data were collected by using personal
data record form, pain questionnaire, Disturbance Perception Questionnaire Pain severity perception
questionnaire, Pain Management Questionnaire, and Patient. Exceptation Questionnaire for pain
management. It was a questionnaire only once during the first 24 hours after surgery. There is a research
assistant. Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation, and predicting factors using Stepwise Multiple
           Regression.naire

Results: Perceived distubances and pain management had a low positive correlation with pain in
           working-age patients undergoing major abdominal surgery (r = .22, p<.05; r = .21, p<.05, respectively).
Pain severity had a moderate positive correlation with pain (r = .66, p<.05). The type of surgery had a
low negative correlation with pain (r = .24, p<.05). The severity of pain and type of surgery predict the
pain of patients who have undergone major abdominal surgery accounted for 41.80%.

Conclusion: The severity leverity of pain pain and the type of surgery were able to predict the pain of
patients after major abdominal surgery. Nurses should pay attention to evaluate the severity of pain
and reduce the severity of pain without medication (lie still, set up a suitable sleeping position) or with
medication and manage pain appropriately for the type of surgery.
