Background: Dementia is a condition resulting from chronic brain diseases, characterized by a gradual
progression. It disrupts various brain functions, including thinking, perception, comprehension, calculation,
language acquisition, and decision-making abilities, leading to impairments to cognitive processes.
Objective: To compare the differences in cognitive function scores of elderly individuals using the
Thai Mental State Examination (TMSE) before and after engaging in brain training games (AMVE Aging
Games).
Methods: The present investigation was conducted as a quasi-experimental study, utilizing a one-group
pre-post test design. Assessments were administered to participants both prior to and following their
engagement with the AMVEaging Games braing training program.
Results: The results demonstrated that there were significant differences in the mean scores before
and after playing all brain training games at a significance level of 0.05 (p = 0.01). After playing the brain
training games, the mean scores were higher than before, with means (SD) of 26.61(1.037) and 26.17(2.550),
respectively. However, when considering each aspect individually, including Orientation, Registration,
Attention, and Recalls, there were no statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level (p = 0.206, 0.131,
0.157). Nevertheless, after playing the brain training games, the mean scores were higher for Orientation
(Mean (SD) 5.72(0.461)) and Registration (Mean (SD) 2.94 (0.236)) compared to before. Additionally,
statistically significant differences were found in Calculations and Language at the 0.05 level (p = 0.015,

0.026) when comparing mean scores before and after playing the brain training games. The mean scores
after playing the games were higher for Calculations (Mean (SD) 3.00 (3.00)) and Language (Mean (SD)
9.67 (0.767)) compared to before.
Conclusion: Brain training game constitute a research approach to improve cognitive abilities in
individuals of all age groups, with a particular emphasis on delaying cognitive decline in the older adults.
