Stress Management in Breast Cancer Patients in Mueang District, Lampang

           Background: Breast cancer is a significant public health issue worldwide. According to the World Health
           Organization (WHO), in 2018, there were approximately 2.10 million cases of breast cancer globally. In Thailand,
           breast cancer is also a critical public health concern, with an increasing incidence rate. The illness not only
           affects the physical health of patients due to the metastasis of cancer cells to other organs, making
           complete recovery challenging but also significantly impacts their mental and emotional well-being.


           Objective: To investigate the stress levels of breast cancer patients in Mueang District, Lampang
           Province. To examine the stress management strategies employed by breast cancer patients in
           Mueang District, Lampang Province.


           Methods: This study is a survey research investigation focused on the stress and stress management
           of breast cancer patients in Mueang District, Lampang Province. The research was conducted from
           December 2023 to May 2024.


           Results: The study found that the stress level of the sample group overall is at a low stress level. (=0.68,
           SD=1.0086). The highest level of stress is having trouble sleeping, can’t sleep or sleep a lot (=0.95,
           SD=1.131). The lowest level of stress is less concentration. (=0.55, SD=0.815). Behaviors that demonstrate
           problem-solving stress management with most of them using the behavior that actually occur on a regular
           basis (=2.57, SD=0.958). Stress management behavior at a moderate level includes the behavior of trying or
           adjust yourself to the situation or try to adjust to a new situation (=1.63, SD=1.213 at a low to moderate level.
           Most of them used moderate behavior, including changing their perspective positively towards problems

           (=2.20, SD=1.159). The low level of stress management behavior included drinking more alcoholic beverages
           such as beer and spirits (=0.05, SD=0.221).


           Conclusion: Research results can be used to develop and promote the quality of life of breast cancer
           patients.
