Background: Compounding the problem of ACS after PCI recognition is the need to choose the best
method of seeking nursing care. Educational efforts need to focus on improving health behavior to
prevent recurrent heart attack and risk factor control
Objective: To identify in the scientific literature on interventions used by health care providers to improve
health behavior to prevent recurrent heart attack or risk factors among persons with ACS after PCI.
Methods: The methodology for an integrative review, as recommended by Whittemore and Knafl, was
used to apply rigour to review the studies reported in this study.
Results: The results of this review suggested that nurse-led education regarding secondary prevention
among patients before discharge may be harder to improve health behaviors and risk factors control.
Among the studies that measured outcomes, five studies reported statistically significant positive effects
of the study interventions on outcomes. This review contributes to a deeper understanding of how to
improve ACS after PCI outcomes by examining the types and effectiveness of the interventions in the
selected studies on two domains of outcomes measures including behaviors and laboratory test results.
This review also investigated the intervention delivery modes that were used to improve health behavior to
prevent recurrent heart attack and risk factor control in persons with ACS after PCI.
Conclusion: This review explored the evidence on interventions for improvingout comes about ACS
after PCI. This review examined evidence to inform further development of interventions,as well as

the interventions’ outcome assessments. Based on this review, beyond formal ACS management,
ongoing support is essential for the maintenance of health behaviors and risk factors control. There is
much variation in interventions across the selected studies. Researcher also found a lack of integrated
multimedia and innovative technology in ACS after PCI persons’ education, especially in how patient
education can be integrated into existing care delivery models to enhance clinical effectiveness.
