Greetings from Conference Co-Hosts
The University of Michigan School of Nursing
The University of Michigan welcomes the opportunity to co-host this
important international conference on “Global Health Recalibration:
Strengthening Outcomes, Education, Clinical Practice, and Research” with
our colleagues at Chiang Mai University. As a profession, nurses make up
over half of the health care workforce in the world. Working together, we
have the unprecedented opportunity to support and transform health care
systems worldwide. Nursing is the future of health care.
The University of Michigan has a long history of collaboration with
Chiang Mai University – both in research and in our work as World Health
Organization Collaborating Centers. Despite significant advances in
nursing research across the globe, gaps in education, clinical practice,
and research continue to exist. For all countries to reach Sustainable
Development Goal #3 on health and well-being, WHO estimates that the
world will need an additional 9 million nurses and midwives by the year
2030.
The conference program is both exciting and ground-breaking in its range
of content and expertise, with clinicians, scientists, and policy makers from
around the world sharing the most up-to-date knowledge of their fields.
On behalf of the University of Michigan, we welcome you to this conference
and look forward to your participation.
