Background: Preventing Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in critically ill pediatric patients is indeed a global
concern due to its significant impact on morbidity and mortality.
Objective: The objective was to develop and evaluate the feasibility of CNPG for Acute Kidney Injury
prevention in Pediatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
Methods: The IOWA model was adopted in CNPG development. Quality was measured in terms of
content validity index (CVI) and Index of item objective congruence (IOC), which were verified by five
experts. The CNPG was tried out on 15 nurses at the pediatric intermediate intensive care unit, the
tertiary care level hospital to evaluate the feasibility.
Results: There were fourteen studies included and synthesized EBPs to develop the CNPG. This CNPG
is composed of 2 main parts, including 1) Assessment of risk factors for Acute Kidney Injury prevention
in Pediatric patients; and 2) Nursing intervention and monitoring for Acute Kidney Injury prevention in
pediatric patients. Assessment of risk factors for Acute Kidney Injury prevention in Pediatric patients
had a content validity index of 0.86 and an Index of item objective congruence of 0.97. Nursing
intervention and monitoring for Acute Kidney Injury prevention in pediatric patients had a content
validity index of 1.0 and Index of item objective congruence of 0.99, reliability = 0.77. The overall nurse’s
opinion on the feasibility of applying the CNPG was at a high level at 86.66%
Conclusion: The developed CNPG had adequate quality and feasibility in applying for Acute Kidney
Injury prevention in Pediatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Future study should be performed to
determine the effectiveness of the CNPG.
