    Using audio visual equipment is very important for learning and teaching process in order to enhance the effective learning and to meet the learning objectives. This study aimed to survey the use of audio visual equipment in classroom as well as problems and suggestions among nursing instructors and nursing students, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University.
    The sample population included 122 nursing instructors and nursing students in the level of bachelor, master, and doctoral degree who received service from the audiovisual unit from 14 May to 4 June 2004. The questionnaire consisted of the questions regarding to 1) the type of audio visual equipment, 2) the type of service request, 3) the effective of audiovisual, 4) the appropriate of position to be set up, 5) the level of clarity of manual instruction, 6) the time length of service after the problem has been reported, 7) the service satisfaction, 8) the service problems, and 9) the suggestions.
    The results revealed that the audiovisual that usually use by the nursing instructors and nursing students included LCD projector and Computer 97.43% and 86.36 % respectively. The services request from the instructors included to be set up the LCD projector with Visualizer or Video Player 51.29%, while 52.27 % of nursing student reported the request to set up all types of audiovisual. 73.08 % of nursing instructors and 86.36 % of nursing students reported that all audiovisual are effective at good level. The location to be set up the equipment is appropriate at a good level which reported by 48.72% of nursing instructors and 70.00% of nursing students. The manual instruction is clear at a good level which reported by nursing instructors 65.38 % and 70.45% of nursing students. The service available after the problem reported is at a good level which reported by nursing instructors 56.41% and 79.55% of nursing students. They reported satisfaction of the service at a good level as of 61.54% and 77.27% among nursing instructors and nursing students respectively. They also reported of having no problem for using audiovisual equipment by nursing instructors 64.10% and nursing students 77.27%. However, they suggested that the unit should recruit more technicians by nursing instructor 37.50 % and nursing students 66.66%.
    The results of this study could be served as a preliminary data to improve the services of the audio visual unit to increase the service access and availability to meet the need of nursing instructors and nursing students. This is to support the effective learning.
