                             Collaboration: What are the Challenges and Opportunities?


           Speaker: Professor Dr. Jody R. Lori, University of Michigan

           Biography:
           Jody R. Lori, PhD, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, is the Sara H. & Robert B. Rothschild Endowed Professor in Global
           Nursing and Associate Dean for Global Affairs at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She is
           renowned for her research on innovative care models improving maternal and newborn health in
           resource-limited settings. Dr. Lori also directs the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for Nursing and
           Midwifery at UMSN, bringing over 25 years of fieldwork experience in Ghana, Liberia, and Zambia.


           Abstract:
           Interdisciplinary collaborations bring together two or more disciplines through shared objectives and
           decision making to unlock innovative health solutions, improve the quality of health care delivery,
           and address some of the most intractable challenges facing health care. This presentation will
           identify multidimensional issues of global significance facing health care providers and systems.
   Symposium Sessions
           Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration will be discussed, along with case studies of global
           collaborations that have improved quality of care and data collection for decision making and
           influenced health care policy. Challenges to maintaining interdisciplinary collaborations will be
           discussed with recommendations on creating equitable partnerships and how to evaluate them.
           The presentation will close with thoughts on the rewards of interprofessional collaborations, how to
           develop a shared understanding, and future directions.
