Abstract:
In today’s interconnected world, global health challenges, including infectious and non-
communicable diseases, along with the burden of illnesses, are issues that transcend borders.
Nursing, a fundamental pillar of healthcare, plays a crucial role in prevention, treatment, rehabilitation,
and the promotion of public health globally.
Against this backdrop, the lecture “Breakthrough to Excellence: Optimizing Practice, Education, and
Research to Improve Health Outcomes” aims to explore the mission and challenges facing the nursing
profession in the new era of global health. Drawing from the speaker’s extensive academic
background and research experience in pediatric cancer supportive care and pediatric palliative
care, the lecture will share insights into the latest developments in nursing practice, education, and
research for global health outcomes.
The lecture will be delivered in four main parts. Firstly, it will delve into the common challenges facing
global nursing practice, including resource inequalities, cultural differences, and the shared response
to global public health emergencies. Secondly, it will discuss how nursing education can be optimized
to address current challenges and foster the development of nursing professionals with a global
perspective. Thirdly, the lecture will focus on optimizing global health research, emphasizing the need
for interdisciplinary and transnational collaboration, patient-centered approaches, and the utilization
of modern technologies. Finally, the lecture will conclude with a vision for the future of global health
nursing, emphasizing the importance of continuous education, international cooperation, and the
cultivation of researchers with a global mindset.
By bringing together leading experts in nursing practice, education, and research, this lecture aims to
provide an opportunity for all nurses to reflect on their role in improving global health outcomes and
to be inspired to take action in this ever-evolving global health landscape.
